so i think i've made a deal with the boss man to get off next thursday friday saturday and sunday, if weather looks promising i'll be leaving early thursday morning.

anybody interested in some real adventure riding? probably the last chance of the year before it gets too cold and the roads get covered in leaves etc.

plan to go from blood mountain to helen and/or hiawassee area on up to deals gap/skyway on thursday, probably ride the national forest/cades cove again and explore further northeast friday, kick back and relax saturday, and head back sunday morning so i get a full day off between getting home and going back to work money evening.

as for sleeping arrangements i've had good luck with the Iron Horse Lodge in Stecoah, Scenic View Motel in Bryson City, and the Microtel in Robbinsville. all of these are relatively inexpensive, ranging from 25/night bunkhouse at the Lodge up to 65 a night for a full suite at the microtel.

100% guaranteed to be an awesome trip, no BS. the mountain air is good for ya !

just ordered new chain, sprockets, and rear tire. that and an oil change should prep for the trip!

we really need to get a mountain trip organized for next year....anybody is welcome to the yearly Gap meet end of July.

you guys are missing out! traffic has been pretty lax this weekend....cold front moved in. ended up riding all the way out to Asheville, nothing fancy out there so i headed back, rode through a bunch of backroads and tried to get lost. road the dragon and NC28 in the dark last night, if you've never done that you need to. tripped around a bit in the nat'l forests but didn't do the big loop. haven't ridden the skyway yet....plan to do that first thing tomorrow before riding home.

quick trip stats: 618 miles, moving time 13 hours 20 mins, overall moving average of 46 mph. not bad. too bad i didn't get a pic of my 77,777.7 mileage, damn camera battery!

it was 44 degrees in Cherokee so at 4k above sea level in the shade it felt like 35. heated grips FTW

yeah man if it wasn't so damn cold i might have turned it up a notch! maybe if the weather gets warm again i'll go back up before winter. hopefully next year we'll do a big Shifted ride up there and back.
